Racer’s Technical Guide

Categories, Race Length and Prizes

The promoter has the option of combining fields or eliminating categories if the category falls under 8 racers. Racing age is determined by what your age will be on December 31, 2011. Racers are responsible for making sure their license is up to date for the 2011 year. Please don’t ask us to make exceptions. One day licenses and annual are available on site at registration. State champions in each category below will receive a Georgia State Champion’s Jersey. The top 3 in all categories below will also receive medals from USA Cycling.

Start Order Procedure

Start order in race 1 and 2 will be first come, first served. The top 8 racers from races 1 and 2 will be called up in order by last name for the state championship race. All other racers will start in row 2 and fill in from the back. Racers may not fill in the front row for absent racers.

Individual Rules and Important Stuff

All U18 riders with a cyclocross category 1 or 2 license must race with the A race. All U18 riders with a cyclocross category 3 license may race the B race.

All racers must wear an ANSI or SNELL approved helmet while using their bike before, during, and after a race—this includes warm up laps.

Racers may ride any types of bicycle legal for mass start events per the USA Cycling rules (cyclocross, road, mtn. bike, fixed gear etc.) No bar-ends are allowed on mountain bikes per USAC rules. Disc brakes? Who cares?

All races are held under USAC permit. All riders must fully complete and sign the standard USAC waiver of liability at each prior to beginning each race or riding on the course.

All USA Cycling rules apply and can be found at http://usacycling.org/news/user/story.php?id=4220

Awards Presentations:

After the top 3 racers cross the finish line they will be escorted to a VIP heated tent. They may have family or friends meet them there so they can clean up. There will be beverages and assistance with post-race clean up and staging. Fifteen minutes after the mandatory protest period we will have podium awards. Please help us by staying in the heated tents or in the VIP area. We would like to expedite the awards after each race and appreciate your help.

Little Things People Want to Know Badly:

  • Race results: after each race results will be tabulated and posted at which time racers will have the mandatory 15 minutes protest period. Race results will be posted within 48 hours of the last race on the series website. Results will also be sent to crossresults.com and USA Cycling.
  • Race numbers location will be available at the registration desk.
  • Is it going to rain or be cold? Yeah, probably.
  • You may have your spot held on the line by a non-racing person.
